Computing

The computing curriculum is innovative and exciting whilst meeting the particular needs of our students.

A key feature of the computing curriculum is to prepare students for work within a modern and ever-changing technological world.  Lessons therefore focus on problem solving skills as well as having a significant focus on e-safety.  This reflects our students being more vulnerable to online abuse and negative online activity than their peers.  E-safety lessons are cyclical and in this way, we constantly revisit key aspects in order to consolidate students’ knowledge and understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe whilst enjoying online activities.

ICT skills are explored across the curriculum and our students are encouraged to practise using these skills to facilitate and enhance their learning.  To achieve this goal and to ensure each student has unlimited access to online resources, online learning and to offer an alternative to writing to record work, each student has their own named device.

We use the Google domain as our learning platform however we also use other internet-based resources to ensure our students have a broad exposure to online learning.
